The Independent Clans

The Assamites

The Assamites seem to operate under a peculiar hierarchy and are linked and conected with the mortal assasains, the Hashashin (from whence the term assasain comes). The mountain upon which the Hasishin dwelled was made into a beautiful garden and filled with luxury and young women to fool the young men taken there into thinkin they had died and gone to heaven. It was desire to return to heaven that made them such vicious and unstoppable killers. The original site of the Hashishin and probably the Assamites was this place, Eagles nest in the Elbrus mountains in Northern Iran. Whether this is still the site of their base is unknown to me at this time.

Assamites appear, tediously, like most clans, to be controlled by their elders, each assamite appears to pay a tithe of his earning to his elder and sire while he saves for the ritual that allows them to increase the power of their blood. A word Ihave heard whispered is Castellan, this appears to be some sort of regional overseer for the Assamites.

At the end of the Anarch revolt the Tremre bought their way into the nascent Camarilla by cursing the Assamites who had fought on the side of the Anarchs. Fearing their diablerie hunting ways should they be left unpunished the newly formed organisation allowed this and a terrible curse was laid upon the Assamites. They appear to find kindred blood poisonous but it seems to be only when consumed. Experiments with a captive attacker many moons ago showed that mere contact with kindred blood is not enough to hurt or incapacitate. Some Assamites left, joining with the beginnings of the Sabbat. They appear to be unaffected by the Tremere curse not having been present and so can still engage in their traditional diablerie. I have heard this group referred to as the unconquered.

There appears to be a subset of the Assamites calling themselves the 'magi' (not to be confused with Tremere or the enlightened) and on one occasion I have seen one of these utilise what is most often considered to be the Tremere only dominion of blood magic. Either this is one renegade Assamite who has somehow stolen their knowledge OR, and this is my suspicion, the 'magi' are a subset of the clan who know Thaumaturgy or something similar.

The Giovanni

The Giovanni are thought of as "The Italian Clan" but I have met Gioanni of Asian and other descent even a branch in Britain linked to the Old Firm calling themselves Dunsirne or something similar. The Gioanni operate on Gangster lines, Dons, torpedoes and so on and it seems quite efficeint. Quite where his ties in with their obsession with death is beyond me but nonetheless they seem quite proficient at contacting and controlling the spirits of the dead as well as drawing souls out of living persons bodies and damning them. Having been on the recieving end of this and 'dying' for a short time I cannot recommend this as being a pleasant experience. I have heard three times now another name mentioned in relation to the Giovanni. Cappadocians. Cappadocia used to be a country in Europe. Perhaps this is where the Giovanni originated.

The Ravnos

The Ravnos are, without exception "Thieving Gippo Bastards". Not that I view this as a bad thing. They're amusing to be around and cause hassle for the Cam, which is always a good thing. They seem to have problems with the Gangrel though I cannot work out why since they seem to share a common ancestry. The Ravnos are powerful tricksters and illusionists and the fae tell me that their illusions are real to them, which apparently concerns and delights them in equal measure.

The Kiasyd

OOC: Joshua (Steve) will write this section.

The Daughters Of Cacophony

These used to have a small group here back in Divine's day, but then, he was a Toreador. Imogen was one, and there were two others I think. They seems rather toreador like and always seemed to be able to enchant them, one way or another. They had powerful control over their voice ndcould use it to harm or convince or entrance. I haven't seen one in quite a while now.

The Samedi

A rotting carcass even more disgusting than the Nosferatu. Rumour has it they are an offshoot of the Giovanni or the Nos.

The Setites

The Setites serve their antediluvian. Directly. This makes them even more of a threat than those who serve theirs unwittingly or as lunch. They seem to revel in corrupting and perverting kindred. Leading them to their beast or worse. Of late they have been trying on the charm but I'm not convinced. At least it makes them useful, for the moment. The setites seem to draw their origins from ancient egypt. I briefly met someone calling themselves an Osiran and claiming to be the sworn enemy of all Setites, but since they were quite obviously of a reognisable clan I thought nothing of it.
