THE GAROU
My experience with the Garou is limited to the few that have loosely allied themselves with us. We once helped them to defend their elder during a ritual of theirs that was most impressive. They trust most of us but have had problems with a few visitors whose "Worm taint" they claim to have been to strong.
Garou have an interesting cosmology and often speak of an end-times much as we do, their "Apocalypse" indeed the similarities are so striking as to warrant a lot of worry. (OOC: Consider this section to contain a copy of The Prophecy Of The Phoenix found in the Galliard section).
The Garou serve many gods and have many stories and a tradition of oral folklore which is quite lovely. Their "Worm" is somewhat analagous to our "Devil" and unredeemable evil force bent on the destruction and corruption of all. Their "Weaver" is a lesser evil, a madly spinning spider making everything ordered and in its place and they worship Gaia, who is obviously just a more modern incarnation of Danu or Dana. I have seem many of the Garou spirits and this has coloured my own perceptions of our stories. Our gods and devils are spirits just the same, given power by our belief in them. If so, what actually created all we see here?
The Tribes of the Garou I have encountered are...
Glass Walkers:- Darius the Lawyer seems to be the epitomy of this tribe. Brisk, efficient, businesslike. He uses his animal instincts to pursue business like none else. I have seen even his battle form take on a silvery hue and suspect he serves the Weaver more than Gaia.
Bone Gnawers:- Disgusting 'mongrels' little better than our Nosferatu or Malkavians. Born of incestuous relationships it seems which only increases my disgust. However, like those clans they are to be pitied and there is no denying Mad's control of the streets.
Stargazers:- Neil Wu came here after Hong Kong was handed over along with some of his kin. He is a master of the martial arts and often a go-between between me and the other Garou. A man of peace, nonetheless capable in war.
Fianna:- Seorus Leary is the only one I have seen. A drunken brute I have little time for. They seem to be irish and until recently their tribal god was Stag. There seems to have been some breaking up with this spirit though and it is not clear whether Stag still is their god. The Fianna are largely of Irish descent but there are large groups from the other ethnic varieties in the British isles. US Fianna according to my contacts seem to be under the delusion that the IRA are heroic freedom fighters, and not terrorists and criminals. Just the same as American kindred of Irish descent.
Silent Striders:- The old elder was one of these and wise, but weak and old. I believe Furie to be the same but do not know him well enough to make judgement.
Ronin:- The same as our Caitiff. I haven't seen the one they say is skulking in the shadows.
The Garou are not monsters. They conduct themselves with honour and can quote a litany of the harm we have done to them over the years. We have a bond of peace with them which we should honour until they turn on us at the end times. Until then they make strong allies.
