CORWYN THE RONIN

Listen up close & I'll tell you the tale,
Of Corwyn the Wolf 'gainst the teeth of the gale,
The storm had a daughter whose eyes were like stars,
Corwyn fell for her, fell for her hard,
His love was taboo, for she too was wolf,
and the daughter of Storms was cold and aloof,
but Corwyn was smart, he fed her some lines,
soon her heart melted, a piece at a time.
Their love it grew strong o'er Spring into summer,
their bodies entwined they joined with each other,
Corwyn was foolish, thought "Love conquers all.",
But women are fickle, he saw her love for him fail,
In striving to keep her, he got her with pup,
then courage declining they covered it up,
Corwyn should have left, he knew he'd get burned,
But after nine months the fool had returned,
When she gave birth their ruse was uncovered,
thinking on their feet they came up with another,
That Corwyn had raped her and got her with child,
When Storm heard tale this he screamed and went wild,
Corwyn was locked in the dark of the earth,
while elders discussed the impact of the birth,
The child was an innocent, the girl had been forced,
Who should be punished? Corwyn of course,
An age did he lie in that underground prison,
not a morsel of food e'en a pot to piss in,
Ami was shut away with her father,
repeated her story till she knew no other,
Corwyn was hauled out, and on blasted heath,
was cursed with a power he'd dreaded for weeks,
running from the glen his feet tore to shreds,
his packmates were coming and wanted him dead,
the earth rose and killed him in each faltering step,
earth turned to silver and Corwyn he bled,
The Storm he caught up to him hot for the kill,
Corwyn struck out though he bode him no ill,
The Storm lost an eye, Corwyn was away,
The magpie found him, led him astray,
When the Storm blew in he was alone,
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to call home,
Corwyn tired of running, he put up a fight,
Foolish young Corwyn should have taken flight,
His body was broken, he lay in his blood,
In his last moments re-united with love,
along with the pack Ami had come,
cradled his head, he thought he had won,
But then with a gesture she tore out his life,
this woman he wished to have as his wife,
Telling their story, so many times
Ami had come to believe in his crimes,
The ground came up and swallowed the storm,
the world it grew dim and Corwyn had gone,
when from the darkness a hand it drew near,
pulled Corwyn back from the darkness we fear,
Should Corwyn be blessed to be saved from the hearse?
Or is life without love a hell of a curse?
Stormwrath is dead for protecting his kin,
Ami is alone, has to live with her sin,
Corwyn is outcast Ronin evermore,
and the truth of this tale is as lost as before,
And what of the child with a mother gone mad,
No father no grandpa, a surrogate dad?
As alone as Corwyn, an outcast as well,
He'll live a short life his, own sweet hell,
And all of the blame lies on Corwyn's shoulders,
the weight of his guilt as heavy as boulders,
Is there a moral in this tale that I've told?
Keep your head down, you'll live to be old.
